Homework study time: Starts Aug. 25 from 4 to 5 p.m. Free. Must have homework and supplies.

Fun Day Express: Teacher workdays and holidays excluding Thanksgiving and Christmas. 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Grades K-5. Starts Oct. 28. $12 per day or $50 weekly. Includes lunch and two snacks. Must have a minimum of five participants.

Track Out X-press: Teacher workdays and holidays excluding Thanksgiving and Christmas. 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Starts Sept. 22. Grades K-5. $12 per day or $50 weekly. Includes lunch and two snacks. Must have a minimum of five participants.

Kids Night Out: First Friday of the month, starting Oct. 7, from 6 to 10 p.m. for ages 5-12. $2 per child. Parents must sign children in and out.

Movie time: Open to all ages Thursdays from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Starts Sept. 1. Free. All movies are rated G or PG.

Halloween Carnival: Oct. 29 from 6 to 9 p.m. Cost is $5.

Amateur boxing: For ages 8-7. Registration is monthly. Fee is $25 per month. Training is held Monday-Thursday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Reid Street Community Center. Instructor is Johnnie Crumpler.

Baton: For ages 3 and up. Registration is year round. Class are held Tuesdays at 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. Fee is $40 per month. Instructor is Lisa Batchelor.

Karate: For ages 4 to adult. Registration is year round. Classes are held every Tuesday. Fee is $32-$49.95. Instructor is James Dozia.

Kids crafts: For ages 3-12. Registration is monthly. Classes are held Wednesdays at 3:45 for ages 6-12 and 5 p.m. for ages 3-5. Fee is $10. Instructor is Linda Little.

Jumpnastics: For ages 3-5. Registration is monthly September through May. Classes are held every Monday at 4:15 p.m. Fee is $30. Instructor is Alice Guthrie.

Gymnastics: For ages 6 and up. Registration is September through May. Classes are held Mondays at 5 p.m. for beginners and 6 p.m. for intermediate. Apparatus include large spring floor, balance beams, uneven bars, and high bar. Fee is $30 per month. Instructor is Alice Guthrie.

Tennis: For ages 6 to 17. September-November. Classes every Tuesday and Thursday at Recreation Park Tennis Courts. $40 per month. Instructor is Adrian Balluyot.

Tumbling: For ages 9 and up. Registration monthly. Classes are held every Wednesday night. $30 per month. Instructors are Kayla Bullock and Maddison Lubbehusen.

Special Olympics of Wilson County: For ages 8 and up. Soccer, basketball, bowling and track and field. Times vary with event.

Youth Fit: Exercise class is Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Elementary class is 3:45 to 4:15 p.m.; middle school 4:15 to 5 p.m. Members $10 per session; non-members $15 per session. Session 1 begins the week of Sept. 5.

Home School Youth Fit: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 1:15 to 2 p.m. Members $10; non-members $15.

Fit Together and Teen Fit: Exercise class includes monthly fitness assessment. Tuesday and Thursday 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Members $10; non-members $15. Session 1 begins Sept. 6.

The Wilson County Public Library will be resuming storytime this fall.

Main Branch: At 249 W. Nash St. from Sept. 14 to Nov. 17. Lapsit (birth to 2 years) is Wednesdays and Thursdays 9:30-9:50 a.m. Preschool (3-4 years) is Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 to 10:30 a.m. School age is Wednesdays at 3:30 p.m.

East Branch: At 6000-C Ward Blvd. at 4 p.m. second and fourth Wednesdays from September through November.

Black Creek: At 103 Central Ave. on Thursdays at 4 p.m. from September through November.

Crocker: In Stantonsburg at 1145 S. Main St. at 4 p.m. second and fourth Thursdays from September through November.

Elm City: At 114 N. Railroad St. at 4 p.m. second and fourth Thursdays from September through November.

Lucama: At 103 E. Spring St. at 4 p.m. first and third Tuesdays from September to November.



Mathematics tutoring is offered by Glenn Etheridge (237-5564) and Jeannette Etheridge (230-7087). N.C. certified teachers, they specialize in middle school and high school math.



The Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club after-school care starts Aug. 25. Cost is $30 a month and includes homework tutoring program Power Hour, as well as several other National Boys and Girls Club programs including, Smart Moves, Street Smarts, Triple Play and many others. The program also includes devotions, songs, arts and crafts, games, gym activities and a snack. For more information call 243-5433.



St. John CDC S.A.Y. after-school program starts back Sept. 6, Monday through Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. Transportation and snacks provided. For grades three to eight; free.

The program offers academic enrichment, cultural awareness, healthful living, recreation, technology education, field trips, homework assistance and more.

Tang Soo Do Karate Center is accepting new students in kindergarten through middle school in the karate after-school program for martial arts lessons, supervised homework time and tutoring options. Included in the program are early release and teacher workdays at no extra cost. Pickup offered in Wilson, Rock Ridge, Elm City and Bailey area schools. 291-8752.

Recently recognized as the Most Outstanding Youth Council in the State of N.C., this is a teen council focused on leadership, service and giving back to the community. The council is a great avenue for teens searching for senior project ideas or to fulfill volunteers hours. Membership is free and open to teens in high school. An application and dedication to service hours are required to join.

The teen council meets on first and third Mondays at the Wilson County Public Library from 6:30 to 8 p.m. to plan events and projects. Community service projects are held once a month. Offering classes in ballet, pointe, contemporary, jazz, hip hop, tumbling, tap and belly dance as well as flash mob fitness, pom class for aspiring cheerleaders and musical theater class. Combination classes taught for younger students.

Ages 13 and up: Teen classes meet on Mondays from 4 to 6 p.m. Instruction in acrylic and oil painting. $72 per month. Students provide paint and canvas. Private lessons $30 per hour. Senior projects welcome.
