Cold case frustrates family: 'Somebody knows something'

On April 15, he would have celebrated his 27th birthday.

Danny Andre Snow Jr. was shot to death in his home at 134 Narrow Way during the early morning hours of May 22, 2008.

Three years later, police are still searching for his killer.

According to investigators, Snow was hanging out with some friends at his home when he heard a knock on the door. When he answered the door, a person or persons tried to get into the residence. Snow shut the door to keep the people out. That’s when a shot rang out. Snow was fatally shot through the door.

Carolyn Gibbons, Snow’s mother, has contended from the day of the murder her son was killed as the result of mistaken identity. She said he never harmed anyone and he always stayed to himself.

Gibbons described her son as a "homebody” who loved to cook and hang out with his friends. She said his goal was to be a chef. Snow was also described as a loving young man with a big heart who never knew a stranger.

What has frustrated investigators and Snow’s mother is nobody has come forward and provide information about the shooting to detectives. Police firmly believe there were people on the street that day who saw what happened and who can identify the assailant or assailants.

Gibbons says she has questions that someday she hopes to get answers to.

"Someone knows something,” Gibbons said in an interview in 2009. "There were people on the street that heard or saw something, and I just want them to think about how they would feel if it was their family member that was killed. Wouldn’t they want someone to come forward and help them?”

Gibbons said she really wants the person responsible off the streets so nobody else will be hurt and so her son’s killer can be brought to justice.

Police have indicated from the beginning they want to solve the case in order to bring closure to Snow’s friends and family.

Anyone with any information who could possibly help solve Snow’s murder is encouraged to contact Detective Eric Kearney at 234-7567 or Detective M. McKenzie at 399-2337, or leave an anonymous tip by calling Crime Stoppers at 243-2255. In order to be eligible for any potential reward, callers will have to identify themselves.
