Williamsons celebrate 50th wedding anniversary
Don and Edna Williamson of Kenly celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on New Year’s Eve at the Angus Barn in Raleigh with their family in attendance. A limousine picked up the couple and their family Saturday afternoon.
The Williamsons were married on Dec. 31, 1961, in Little Rock Free Will Baptist Church in Lucama.
Mr. Williamson is the son of the late Ivey and Inez Williamson of Lucama. He is part owner of Cardinal Chemicals, Inc., and he retired as manager of the Wilson location in March 2004.
Mrs. Williamson is the former Edna Ruth Atkinson of Lucama and is the daughter of the late Nathan and Ruth Atkinson. She worked with Ralston Purina for eight years before becoming a stay-at-home mom with her children.
The Williamson have two daughters, Kim W. Foster and husband Dennis and Angela W. Fortson and husband John, both of Kenly. They have three grandchildren, Morgan Foster and Abbie and Jay Fortson.
