Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Richardson Evett Jr. of Apex announce the engagement of their daughter, Melissa Catherine Evett, to Cory Thomas Puryear, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Jordan Puryear III of Roxboro. The bride is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Richardson Evett Sr., and Mrs. Marie Outlaw Sutton, all of Wilson, and the late Virgil Lee Outlaw. The groom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Jordan Puryear Jr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Felix J. Poole, all of Roxboro. A June 1 wedding is planned at Fairmont United Methodist Church in Raleigh.
