Dr. and Mrs. Miller Walton Gibbons of Wilson announce the engagement of their daughter, Kathryn Deane Gibbons of Chapel Hill, to William Witt Putney III of Wilson, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Witt Putney II of Elm City. The bride is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. William David Phillips of Laurinburg and the late Mr. and Mrs. Lemuel Hardy Gibbons of Wilson. The groom is the grandson of Peggy Brannon Pearson of Wilson and the late Robert Hugh Pearson and the late Dr. and Mrs. Robert Hubbard Putney Jr. of Elm City. A June 8 wedding is planned at First United Methodist Church in Wilson.
