Garden colors Cyndi Lauderdale | Extension Service Most gardeners look for great color combinations to include in their garden. The color palette should reflect the personal taste of the gardener. Color can come from blooms or from foliage plants. In the Wilson Botanical Gardens we strive to have something colorful year round I've seen gardens with jaw-dropping color combinations that we are trying to duplicate in the Wilson Botanical Gardens. We also plan on putting interesting colors in our new container section. The Wilson Botanical Gardens is hosting an Art in the Garden series on Color Theory and Practical Arrangement. On Thursdays, May 15, 22, and 29 Jonathan Annett, local Wilson artist, from 6-8 PM will speak on the fundamentals of design awareness. Learn how to see color in an artistic way to help plan your own garden design. The lectures will focus on color arrangement and light/color theory including application, designation, and communication. A fun part of this series is along with the lecture participants will complete an art project to be set on permanent display in the Wilson Botanical Gardens. Please join us at the Wilson Agricultural Center, 1806 SW Goldsboro St., for one or all of the dates. For more information call 237-0113. This project is supported by a grant from the Arts Council of Wilson through the N.C. Arts Council Grassroots Arts Program with funding from the state of North Carolina, which believes that a great nation deserves great art.
