N.C. Deaf Blind Assoc. Chicken Dinner

The N.C. Deaf Blind Association will hold a chicken plate fundraiser Saturday, Nov. 1 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wilson County Senior Center, 1808 S. Goldsboro St., Wilson. Plates are $6 each.

 

Rocky Mount Christian Women's Connection

The Rocky Mount Christian Womens Connection will hold it's November "After 5" meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 11 from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Double Tree Hotel on Winstead Avenue in Rocky Mount. For information and reservations, call 443-2864 or 446-4320. The group's "Breakfast Buffet" event will be held Wednesday, Nov. 12 at Benvenue Country Club. Wilson Duplicate Bridge

October 21 - North - South winners were Marjorie Crisp and Lynda Land, first; Joyce Lamm and John Gresham, second; Vivian Leggett and Ron Woodsum, third. East - West winners were Sally Barnes and Ann Griffin, first; Martha Walston and Graham Lane, second; Richard Moore and Charlotte Weathers, third.

Down East Radio Reading Service

Down East Radio Reading Service, a non-profit organization, is seeking volunteers to read information from local newspapers over the air to those in Edgecombe, Nash and Wilson counties who cannot read printed material due to vision or physical impairment. Delta Kappa Gammma

The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International Wilson/Greene Omicron chapter's officers for 2008-2010 are President, Rosalie Bissette; First Vice-President, Deenie Purinai; Second Vice-President, Linda Johnson; Secretary, Joan Satterly; Treasurer, Marsha Irvin; Parliamentarian, Dot Carter; Corresponding Secretary, Carol Brugh; Past President, Pat Campbell. At the most recent Omicron meeting, Eta State promoted a "Going Green with Delta Kappa Gamma" theme. Bob Arrington, with the City of Wilson, presented a program on Sources of NC Electricity and NC Green Power. Janet Harris spoke to the group about her organic gardening. Monica Campbell, a 2008 Hunt graduate now attending East Carolina University, was recognized as Omicron's recent grant-in-aid recipient. Members donated school supplies that were distributed to the Wesley Shelter, the Salvation Army Boy's and Girl's Club, and to new Wilson County Schools' teachers. The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International promotes professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education.
