Nuss-McGuire

Sarah Louise McGuire and Jared William Nuss, both of Williamsburg, Va., exchanged wedding vows April 20 in a 2 p.m. ceremony at St. Bede Catholic Ministry Chapel in Williamsburg. The Rev. Sean Prince officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Susan and James McGuire of Wilson. She is the granddaughter of Emily and James McGuire of Wilson and the late Alice and Bertram Bennett of Venice, Fla. She graduated from Hunt High School, East Carolina University and College of Charleston with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and Master’s of Science degree in environmental studies. She is the education coordinator for Chesapeake Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve in Va.

The groom is the son of Susan Nuss of Tunkhannock, Pa., and the late David Nuss. He is the grandson of the late George and Jesse Nuss of New Britain, Conn., and the late Harrison and Priscilla Sheppard of North Haven, Conn. He graduated from Bolton High School and the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Arts degree in geography. He is a GIS analyst for James City Service Authority.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a soft, white taffeta A-line gown fashioned with a sweetheart neckline accented with a gray satin sash with beaded 3D floral embellishments.

She carried a hand-tied bouquet of purple lisianthus, purple hydrangea and purple orchid blooms with stems wrapped in ivory ribbon, accented with lace from her mother’s wedding gown and grandmother’s brooch.

Maid of honor was Andrea McNeely of Charlottesville, Va.

Bridesmaids were Sally Upton of Park City, Utah; Sarah Falkowski of Naples, Fla.; and Jes Russo of Milton, W.Va. They wore cocktail-length grape chiffon strapless dresses designed with a sweetheart neckline.

Flower girls were Abigail Zellner of Montclair, N.J., and Ellie Russo of Milton, W.Va.

Best man was Scott Nuss of Vernon, Conn., brother of the groom.

Groomsman was Jimmy McGuire of Wilson, brother of the bride.

Junior groomsman was Tyler Zellner of Montclair, N.J.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Settlement at Powhatan Creek in Williamsburg hosted by the bride’s parents.

On the eve of the wedding, the rehearsal dinner was held at Buon Amici Italian Restaurant in Williamsburg hosted by the groom’s mother.

A bridal luncheon was given the day before the wedding at Barrett’s in Williamsburg. Mary Mallory of Wilson was hostess.

The couple took a honeymoon trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. They are making their home in Williamsburg.
