Rebekah Jean Shingleton and Nicholas Bryant Gardner of Charleston, S.C., were married Oct. 12 in a 4 p.m. ceremony at Shingleton Family Farm in Greene County. The Rev. Brandon Bowers of Charleston and the Rev. Jimmy Carroll of Raleigh officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Susan Moss Shingleton of Wilson and the late William Bryce Shingleton of Stantonsburg. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howell Cobb Moss of Wilson, the late Billie Shingleton-Boykin of Stantonsburg and the late Garland Bryce Shingleton of Stantonsburg. She graduated from Greene Central High School and Meredith College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in dance education. She is a resident director at the College of Charleston.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Gardner of Knightdale and the grandson of Brenda Grudzinski of Raleigh, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Grudzinski of Raleigh and Mr. and Mrs. Lenny Gardner of Garner. He is a homeschool graduate and is a hi-tech manager for Guitar Center, Inc.
Escorted by her mother, the bride wore a full lace, fitted ivory gown with a champagne underlay belted at the waist with a mocha-colored sash.
Matron of honor was Christi Johnson of Hookerton. Bridesmaids were Amanda Hightower of Farmville, Diana Hardy of Kinston, Rachel Greene of Raleigh, Amber Johnson of Greenville and Bailey Gardner of Knightdale, sister of the groom. Flower girl was Laney Keith of Knightdale.
Best man was the father of the groom. Groomsmen were Christian Gardner and Jackson Gardner of Knightdale, brothers of the groom; Ben Tripp of Raleigh, cousin of the groom; Mac Johnson of Garner; and Will Shingleton of Cambridge, Mass., brother of the bride. Ushers were Chad Lemke and Murphy Johnson of Garner. Ring Bearers were Talyn Watkins and Brody Watkins of Raleigh.
Wedding music was provided by Ashley Seagle, vocalist; Matt Goetke, vocalist and guitarist; and Johnathan Waggett, pianist. Register attendants were Jennifer Shingleton of Cambridge, sister-in-law of the bride, and Ashley Strickland of Snow Hill.
The “Make it Pretty Committee” helped with set-up for the wedding and reception. Members of the committee were Samantha Ashby of Greensboro and Brittany Troutman, Meredith Moody and Britt Tatum of Raleigh.
A reception followed the ceremony at the farm with dinner and dancing. Hostess was the bride’s mother.
On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s parents were hosts for a rehearsal dinner at Shingleton Family Farm.
Mr. and Mrs. Gardner have returned from a wedding trip to the N.C. mountains and are living in Charleston.
Aug. 25: A bridal shower was given by Meredith College friends at the home of Britt Tatum in Raleigh.
Sept. 6-8:A combined bachelor and bachelorette weekend retreat was held at Fort Caswell Baptist Assembly on Oak Island.
Sept. 21: A Pampered Chef party was given at the home of Lisa Tingen of Stantonsburg. A cook-out with a bridal shower was given at the home of Linda and George Harrell of Snow Hill, hosted by friends and family of the bride.
Sept. 22: A bridal shower was given by family and friends of the groom at the home of Pam Gardner of Knightdale.
Oct. 5: A bridal luncheon was given at Something Different by Gail Hardison, Mary Catherine Hardison, Vivian Ricks and Betsy Jenswold, aunt of the bride.
