Jessica Leigh Elks of Robersonville and Matthew Ryan Watson of Lucama exchanged marriage vows Aug. 4 in a 5:30 p.m. ceremony at the Christian Chapel Church of Christ in Robersonville. The Rev. Mike Wise officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Cecil and Jennifer Elks of Robersonville. She is the granddaughter of Johnnie and Jenny Griffin of Robersonville and Lois Elks of Williamston and the late James Wayland Elks. She graduated from Hobgood Academy and Barton College with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Special Education and is a special education teacher for Martin County Schools.

The groom is the son of Ronnie and Kathy Watson of Lucama. He is the grandson of Doris Godwin and the late John Roy Godwin of Lucama and Frances Watson and the late Roy Watson of Lucama. He graduated from Hunt High School and Barton College with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Sports Management and is an Insurance Agent for The Boyd Agency in Williamston.

The bride was escorted by her father.

Maid of honor was Sarah Elizabeth Elks of Robersonville, sister of the bride.

Bridesmaids were Elizabeth Uzzell Lilley of Tarboro, Alexandra Elizabeth Minton of Wilson, Stacy Renee Wade of Snow Hill and Amanda Marie Whitehead of Greenville.

Flower girl was Katie Marie Ash of Wilson, cousin of the groom.

Best man was the groom’s father.

Groomsmen were Travis Glenn Watson of Lucama, brother of the groom; Gregory John Barnes Jr. of Lucama; William Warren Bissett of Bailey; and Brian Edward Pollock of Wilson.

Ring bearer was Kirkland Champ Tice of Williamston.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Senator Bob Martin Eastern Agriculture Center in Williamston hosted by the bride’s parents.

On the eve of the wedding, the rehearsal dinner was held at Sunset Stables in Robersonville hosted by the groom’s parents.

The couple took a honeymoon trip to Disney World Resorts and Universal Studios. They reside in Robersonville.
