Alarie Grey Yelverton of Black Creek and William Henry Jenkins of Lucama exchanged marriage vows Oct. 27 in a 5 p.m. ceremony at Willow Springs Country Club in Wilson. The Rev. Randy Jenkins, father of the groom, officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James W. Yelverton of Black Creek. She is the granddaughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. Paul W. Evans of Rocky Mount and the late Elmer B. and Iris Davis Yelverton of Black Creek. She graduated from Beddingfield High School and Wayne Community College with a degree in dental assisting and is a dental assistant for Dr. Paul Gaskins and Dr. Jackie Mullin.

The groom is the son of the Rev. and Mrs. Randy Jenkins of Lucama. He is the grandson of Sarah C. Allen of Surfside Beach, S.C., and the late Olen Allen and Lula J. Wray of Reidsville and the late Henry Jenkins. He graduated from Hunt High School and is manager of Bill’s Grill restaurant and is an auctioneer.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore an ivory strapless slim charmeuse gown fashioned with a delicately beaded sweetheart neckline. The gown featured a cut-out, hand-beaded back with a slim silhouette bodice and slight train.

She carried a cascading bouquet of cream colored calla lilies and petite purple flowers.

Matron of honor was Mindy Jackson of Black Creek.

Bridesmaids were Brittany Hendricks of Lucama, Gina Pope of Pikeville and Lola Jenkins of Lucama, sister of the groom.

Bridal attendants wore regency purple long sheer chiffon dresses. The strapless bodice was styled with a sweetheart neckline lightly beaded with a twist front bust.

Flower girl was Macaylee Wiggs of Black Creek.

Best man was Gordon Jenkins of Lucama, brother of the groom.

Groomsmen were Josh Jenkins and Daniel Jenkins of Lucama, brothers of the groom, and Alex Lewis of Lucama.

During the ceremony a special candle was lit by the bride and the groom in memory of the bride’s brother, Michael James Yelverton, who passed away in November. A memorial to him and the deceased grandparents of the bride and groom was displayed in the lobby.

Register attendant was Abi El-Ramey.

Program attendant was Rebecca Jenkins, sister of the groom.

Wedding director was Laura Newsome of Fremont.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Willow Springs Country Club in Wilson, hosted by the bride’s parents.

On Oct. 21, the rehearsal dinner was held at Something Different in Wilson hosted by the groom’s parents.

The couple took a honeymoon trip to Asheville and the mountains of North Carolina. They reside in Fremont.

 

Pre-nuptial events

• Sept. 23: A wedding shower was held at the Black Creek United Methodist Church fellowship hall hosted by the bridesmaids, mother of the bride, aunt of the bride Melissa Haddock and close friend of the bride Carolyn Howell.

Oct. 13: A bridesmaids’ luncheon was held at Olive Garden in Wilson, hosted by the mother of the bride.
