Beverly Lynn Norris and Steven Daniel Dawson, both of Wilson, exchanged marriage vows May 4 in a 5:30 p.m. ceremony in the gardens of The Leaning Tree in Bailey. The Rev. Jonathan Pearce officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Katherine Tedder Norris of Lucama and the late Stephen Norris. She is the granddaughter of Arthur and Odell Tedder of Lucama and Bobby and Reba Garner of Four Oaks. She graduated from Hunt High School and East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education and is employed with West Smithfield Elementary School in Johnston County as a first grade teacher.

The groom is the son of David and Theresa Peeden of Smithfield. He is the grandson of Bobby Lamm of Wilson and the late Eunice Mae Lamm. He graduated from Hunt High School and the University of Phoenix with a degree in business management and is employed with Grifols Therapeutics in Clayton as a maintenance inventory technician.

Escorted by her mother, the bride wore a chiffon, soft A-line gown fashioned with a ruched halter bodice accented at the waist with a cream silk sash. The ruffled skirt flowed to a sweep train.

She wore a silk organza floral headpiece adorned with lace, pearls, crystals and feathers.

The bride carried a bouquet of white hydrangeas, peonies, roses and Queen Anne’s lace hand-tied and wrapped in a lace handkerchief which was originally fashioned as a baby bonnet gifted at the bride’s birth. It was accented with a brooch that belonged to the late Olive Flores Tedder.

Maid of honor was Julie Davis of Charlotte.

Matron of honor was Mollie Young of Charlotte.

Bridesmaid was Lindsay Mooring of Raleigh.

The bridesmaids wore short, coral reef crinkle chiffon strapless dresses styled with a ruched bodice and a sweetheart neckline. They carried bouquets of mixed Gerbera daisies.

Flower girl was Abigail Smith of Four Oaks, cousin of the bride.

Best man was Joshua Williford of Wilson, cousin of the groom.

Groomsman was Mark Pittman of Selma.

Ring bearer was Peter Morano, the groom’s son.

Register attendants were Jack and Taylor Perkinson of Greenville.

Program attendants were Kristen and Mary Kathryn Kinley of Greenville.

Wedding director was Peggy Beaman of Lucama.

Wedding music was provided by harpist Dr. Marilyn Wienand of Cary.

Following the reception, the Dave Dixon Trio from Greenville provided music for the guests to enjoy.

A reception was held at The Leaning Tree in Bailey hosted by the bride’s mother.

On the eve of the ceremony, the rehearsal dinner was held at The Leaning Tree.

 

Pre-nuptial events

• On March 2, a bridal shower was held at the home of Kathleen Phillips and hosted by Julie Davis, Kathleen Phillips, Kim Ellis, Lindsey Mooring and Mollie Young.

• On March 24, a bridal shower was hosted by the bride’s family.

• April 5-7, a bachelorette weekend was held in Washington, D.C.

• On April 30, a bridal shower was hosted by the first grade teachers at West Smithfield Elementary School.

• On May 3, a bridal brunch was held at Something Different.
