Lauren Michelle Armstrong and Michael Boyd Clark, both of Wilson, were married June 1 in a 5:30 p.m. ceremony at First Baptist Church in High Point. The Rev. Robert Eric Bergland officiated.

Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Taylor Armstrong of Kernersville are the bride’s parents. Her grandparents are Marvin Dudley Goins of Ridgeway, Va., and the late Rosa Lee Goins, and Esther Lee Armstrong of Wytheville, Va., and the late Harry Taylor Armstrong. A graduate of East Forsyth High School, she attended North Carolina State University where she studied early childhood education and was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She is employed in customer service with BB&T.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Matthews Clark of Wilson and the grandson of Joyce Narron Gay of Wilson and the late Joseph Henry Gay, and Sarah Moss Clark of Wilson and the late Dr. W.B. Clark Jr. He is a graduate of Beddingfield High School and East Carolina University, where he was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity. He has a degree in sports and media studies from ECU and is a college football recruiting analyst for Fox Sports.

Escorted by her father, the bride chose for her wedding a formal strapless gown with a cathedral train of dupioni silk fashioned with a sweetheart neckline and covered buttons down the back. For the ceremony she wore a Chantilly lace bandeau jacket which she removed for the reception and replaced with a custom rhinestone sash.

To complement her attire, she wore a cathedral veil.

Matrons of honor were Sara Tedder Boehm of Phoenix and Kasey Hale Hare of Wilson. Bridesmaids were Anna Narron Clark of Raleigh, sister of the groom; Janell Upton Dunaway of Charlotte; Emma Johnson Benkert of Atlanta; Kaitlin Rebecca Spring of Chapel Hill; Mary Ashley Whitaker of Durham; and Mary Katherine Tedder of Charlotte. They wore off-the-shoulder baby pink tulle dresses.

Flower girls were Alaina Desirae Goins of Ridgeway and Hannah Nicole Schelling of Martinsville, Va., cousins of the bride.

The groom’s father was best man.

Groomsmen were Stephen Taylor Armstrong Jr. of Kernersville, brother of the bride; David Manning Hare, Charles Horace Bedgood IV, James Connor Bedgood and Kevin Michael O’Hara, all of Wilson; Clinton Frederick Winslow of Durham; and John Taylor Barker Jr. of Rocky Mount. David Tyler Davis of Wilson was an usher.

Austin Lee Schelling of Martinsville, cousin of the bride, was the ring bearer.

Wedding music was presented by Bruce Hargrove of High Point, soloist.

Register attendant was Brittni Mattocks Winslow of Chapel Hill. Program attendants were Chelsey Eleanor Core of Columbia, S.C., and Sarah Catherine Miller of Raleigh.

Readers were Sara Baity Patterson of Charlotte and Elizabeth Blair Wortham of Richmond, Va.

A reception at High Point Country Club followed the ceremony. The bride’s parents were hosts. Black and Blue provided entertainment.

On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at String and Splinter in High Point. An after-rehearsal party hosted by family and friends of the groom followed at Stringer and Splinter. Bunn DJ Company provided entertainment. Earlier in the day, family and friends of the bride gave a bridesmaids’ luncheon at J.H. Adams in High Point.

They have returned from a wedding trip to Costa Rica and are living in Wilson.

Nov. 3: An engagement party was given in Wilson by friends of the bridal couple.

Dec. 2: A Christmas shower was given in Kernersville by friends of the bride’s mother.

Feb. 16: A shower was given in Raleigh by Zeta Tau Alpha sorority sisters.

March 23: A luncheon shower was given in Winston-Salem by friends of the bride’s mother.

April 6: A cocktail party was given in Wilson by friends of the groom’s parents.
