Leigh Anna Tyson of Wilson and Robert D. Simpson III of Rock Ridge were united in marriage June 15. The Rev. LaVon Phillips and the Rev. Brian Tippett officiated at the 2 p.m. ceremony at Farmington Heights Church of God.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Tyson of Wilson. She is the granddaughter of Vonnie Radford of Wilson and the late Larry Radford; Betty Respass of Colonial Heights, Va., and the late Art Respess; and James Tyson of Black Creek and the late Carolyn Tyson. She graduated from Hunt High School and East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education. She teaches fourth grade for Wilson County Schools.

The groom is the son of Robert D. Simpson Jr. of Rock Ridge and Shelia Williams of Wilson. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Robert D. His great-grandmother is Hortense Beamon of Wilson. A graduate of Hunt High School, he is employed with the N.C. Department of Transportation and Simpsons Angus Farm.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a formal organza and silk gown adorned with layers of Alencon and duchesse lace with guipure lace appliques. The sleeveless bodice was fashioned with a scalloped lace neckline. The fitted trumpet skirt flowed to a chapel train.

For her headpiece, she chose a chapel-length veil edged with vintage Alencon lace. She carried a bouquet of white and blush peonies, blush roses and white hydrangeas.

Paige Tyson was her sister’s maid of honor. She wore a full-length, one-shoulder blush chiffon gown.

The groom’s father was best man.

Ushers were Jackie Waddell, Charles Tyson, Melvin Barnett and Will Neal.

Jackson Waddell was junior usher.

Wedding music was presented by Ryan Godwin, pianist; the Rev. Tim Hurt, vocalist; and Everett Godwin, violinist.

Program attendants were Hannah Best of Princeton and Lindsay Holt of Wilson. Register attendants were Casey Strickland and Melissa Strickland, both of Wilson. Greeters were Karley Sharp of Wilson and Megan Armstrong of Raleigh.

Teresa Pope was director.

A reception at the church followed the ceremony. The bride’s parents were hosts.

Departure attendants were Jordyn Elis, niece of the groom, and Alana Tyson, cousin of the bride.

The couple left the ceremony on a vintage 1960 Cadillac Coupe Deville driven by owner Joe Tippett.

On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted the rehearsal dinner at the Bullock-Dew House (circa 1902), the home of Joe and Janice Tippett of Sims. Earlier that day, family and friends of the bride hosted a bridal luncheon at Jac’s.
