Crystal Arlene Joyner and Ricky Jay VanHoute Jr. were married at Sandy Cross United Methodist Church in Nashville on Dec. 12. The Rev. Jimmy Reavis and the Rev. Judson Dunlap officiated the 3 p.m. ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Ronnie and Janice Joyner of Sandy Cross. She is the granddaughter of the late Paul and Ruby Joyner and the late Avery and Evelyn Hobson. She graduated from Southern Nash High School and received her masters in mathematics education from East Carolina University. She is employed as a teacher in the Nash-Rocky Mount school system.

The groom is the son of Ricky and Sharon VanHoute Sr. of New York. He is the grandson of Douglas and Helen Gedney, Margaret VanHoute and the late Peter VanHoute, all of New York. He is a graduate of Sodus Central High School and of Rochester Institute of Technology with a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering technology. He is now employed as a mechanical engineer for Bridgestone.

The bride was escorted by her father.

Lauren Barnes of Rocky Mount served as matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Jessica Bowen of King, Elena Bryant of Asheville and the groom's sister Nicole VanHoute of New York.

Ricky VanHoute Sr., father of the groom, served as best man.

Groomsmen were Joseph Jordan of Macclesfield and Cameron Joyner, the bride's brother, of Sandy Cross.

Noah Foster of New York, the groom's cousin and godson, was ring bearer.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Willow Spring Country Club in Wilson hosted by the bride's parents.

On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents held a rehearsal dinner at Something Different in Wilson.
