Wilson County man accused of kidnapping

A Wilson County man faces kidnapping charges after authorities say he duct-taped a man’s arms and legs together, streaked him with spray paint and drove him to a Fremont home.

Jerry Mason, 39, of 6838 N.C. 581 North outside Kenly, was arrested Monday after Wayne County sheriff’s deputies say he abducted the man on April 10. Mason took the man from a home on Ivey Lane near Pikeville and drove him to a house on Aycock Street in Fremont, said Maj. Tom Effler of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

Fremont police found the man covered with spray paint and his hands, arms and legs bound with duct tape, Effler said. Police contacted Wayne County deputies who interviewed the victim and his girlfriend.

Mason was arrested several days later after deputies conducted follow-up interviews. He is charged with second-degree kidnapping.

Deputies placed Mason in the Wayne County Jail in Goldsboro under a $75,000 secured bond.
