Lady Chargers open up league play with victory

Lady Chargers open up league play with victory

GREENVILLE — A night after a less-than-stellar performance in a loss, the Wilson Christian volleyball team opened up play in the North Carolina Christian School Association 2-A East Region with a 3-0 victory Friday at Greenville Christian Academy.

“We played much better tonight,” WCA head coach Elizabeth Howell said. “It was like we were a completely different team. ... It was a great start for our conference play, and I’m excited about more conference games next week.”

It was a tightly contested match as the Lady Chargers (2-4 overall) won the first and third sets by 25-23 scores. Set No. 2 went 25-14 in WCA’s favor.

Leading the way for Wilson Christian was Lindsey Scott with eight kills, a dig and an ace. Kristen Raper had 11 aces, two kills and 14 assists.

WCA’s next game is Tuesday at home against Raleigh Christian Academy.
