Monday, December 15, 2008 3:56 PM Second ElectriCities administrator gone By Rochelle Moore Daily Times Staff Writer During a time when residents are facing some of the highest electric costs in history, a second top administrator of ElectriCities has left the organization. Clay Norris, an ElectriCities senior vice president of planning and marketing, ended his career with the trade organization Friday, according to an internal memo sent to ElectriCities staff Friday morning. Norris' departure is just five weeks after ElectriCities chief executive officer Jesse Tilton resigned after leading the organization 13 years. ElectriCities manages two public power agencies, including the N.C. Eastern Municipal Power Agency which sells wholesale electricity to Wilson and 31 other cities. Norris worked for ElectriCities since 1999 and was first hired as the director of planning before moving up in the ranks to senior vice president, said Ken Raber, senior vice president of NCEMPA and ElectriCities Services. Thirty six percent of his $244,755 salary was paid for by NCEMPA and 64 percent by the western power agency, the N.C. Municipal Power Agency. Along with Norris' departure, Janice Carney, ElectriCities manager of regulatory issues, has also left the organization. Carney was hired in 2003 and reported to Norris. She was primarily responsible for issues involving the N.C. Utilities Commission and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Carney's post, which included a $138,200 salary, was eliminated Friday "because of business needs," the ElectriCities memo states. Her job duties will either be outsourced or absorbed within the organization. For more information on this story, read the Tuesday edition of the Wilson Daily Times. |

I totally agree Ricardo. Alot more. This place is an infestation of misuse of public money. http://www.triadblogs.com/curmilus/9192/Wilson+NC+-+ElectriCities+Budget+Cuts%3F.html?#c822 http://www.rockymounttelegram.com/opinion/high-voltage-and-electricites-bill-297087.html Very happy to see Daryl Barber's questions have been answered finally. I understand Mr. Dancy and Councilman Knight in Rocky Mount got this memo. A lot of mumbling here. And happy to see Rocky Mount take aim. We need a lot more answers. We need to see more cuts. Reckless spending is still going on. Accounting staff have reported all kinds of misuses of money.

It is about time we saw some of these over paid, do nothings eliminated but I will not be one to give this place a lick of credibility until a lot more are out. People getting rich off our backs- WRONG.

There is more to ElectriCities than meet the eye. Our City officials need to step up now and look deeper into this. I think they will find more
