Students compete in contest Several area high school students competed in the State High School Mathematics Contest held in April at the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics in Durham. The students qualified by placing in the top eight percent in regional contests held earlier this year around the state. The students competed for a position on the state American Regions Mathematics League Team and for college scholarships and other prizes. Students competing and their schools included: Laura Scott of Wilson Greenfield School Chase Daughtridge of Rocky Mount, Rocky Mount Academy Craig Park of Rocky Mount, Rocky Mount Academy Shaunak Varma of Rocky Mount, Rocky Mount Academy Sameer Prasada of Rocky Mount, Rocky Mount High School Soung Min Cho of Pikeville, Wayne Country Day School Yesol Suh of Goldsboro, Wayne Country Day School.
