There has to be a trend in three years showing we are going in the right direction. We didn't ask for superhuman efforts, but did ask for use to be better off now than we were in 2008. It didn't happen and he broke promises made. Anyone voting for Obama is only following party lines which to me is the biggest disrespect to those who fight for our freedom. Come on people, think for yourself! Use your head instead of following a party or god forbid someone's race. And thank God Romney is successful, powerful corporate leader and wealthy. We want a poor unsuccessful President?? And I think Romney and his wife would bring a little class back to the Whitehouse as well.

Answer to Question said...
You answered your own question when you wrote (He) was unable. If you blame the horrors that people live through, what have you accomplished? You can't erase the horrors. The alcohol your father drank only made a bad situation worse. It was his life and his choice. When a person drinks to the point they become addicted, satisfying their addiction becomes the most important thing to them. Now, if you wish to call a self inflicted addiction a sickness, then your father (to you) was sick. As I stated earlier, alcohol has no legs and no will of its own, people do! I am truly sorry that your fathers life ended the way you described. In the end it really doesn't matter what I think does it?

Tuesday, September 11, 2012 12:21 AM Democrats building momentum SLOB draws 100-plus By Corey Friedman | Times Online Editor President Barack Obama needs time to finish the job he started in 2008, Wilson County Democratic leaders said at a Monday fundraiser. Party officials said Obama took the White House as the nation teetered on the brink of recession and struggled with the strain of two Middle East wars. Leading the United States to full recovery in a single term, they said, would be superhuman. "It would take a miracle to do it in three years,” A.P. Coleman, Wilson city councilman, said. "Anybody who could do it in three years, they need to go to heaven and sit on the right hand of God. It’s going to take all of us to do it. It’s going to take both sides of the aisle, and I hope the general public demands that.” The Wilson County Democratic Party held its 25th Silver Lake Oyster Bar Hot Air Fellowship fundraiser Monday at the Silver Lake restaurant south of Wilson. Former Gov. Jim Hunt echoed Coleman’s sentiments about the daunting task Obama has faced. "It’s amazing how many people have forgotten what it was like,” Hunt said. "The Republicans, just like they’ve done in the ‘20s and ‘30s, had brought us to our knees, brought us almost to the point of a depression.” Obama, the former governor said, began the uphill trudge of economic recovery despite the nation losing 750,000 jobs in the month he was inaugurated president. "This country is now beginning to come back,” Hunt said. "It takes a while, and we are doing it.” Democrats dined on seafood and shook hands with local and state candidates at the fundraiser, an annual event that returned for 2012 after a two-year hiatus. Party members hold the event "to have some comradeship among Democrats,” said event co-chairman Dewey Sheffield, a member of the N.C. Democratic Party’s executive committee. "It’s kind of like a pep rally,” Sheffield said. "It builds enthusiasm.” Organizers hope the fundraiser, colloquially known as the SLOB, becomes a regional rally for Democrats seeking donations and grassroots momentum as they prepare for general elections in November. "It’s a Wilson County event,” Sheffield said. "Our plans now are to make it an eastern North Carolina event.” Democratic candidates on hand Monday evening included Secretary of State Elaine Marshall, June Atkinson, who is running for superintendent of public instruction, N.C. Court of Appeals Judge Sam J. Ervin IV, who is seeking a state Supreme Court seat, and Court of Appeals Judges Cressie Thigpen and Wanda Bryant. Organizers said nearly 100 patrons were in attendance. Information on the amount of money raised for the county Democratic Party was not immediately available. Party officials recently revealed that they had been swindled of about $1,400 after forged checks stolen from the former treasurer’s home were cashed. Stantonsburg police charged 53-year-old Daniel Ray Wilson with breaking and entering, larceny, forgery and uttering a forged instrument in the theft. Democrats settled with BB&T for about half of the amount stolen and can collect restitution from Wilson. The county party since has appointed a new treasurer. Attendees like Phil Valera and his wife, Deborah Baro, said they participated in the fundraiser to support local and state Democratic candidates. "We’ve got to get local officials elected as well as our national ones,” Valera said. "Our state is such a mess with the Republican Party takeover. What a disaster!” Baro said candidates like Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney don’t inspire confidence and set poor examples for America’s youth. "They end up nominating people who are in conflict with the values that they state,” Baro said of Republicans. "It’s absolutely mind-boggling.” corey@wilsontimes.com | 265-7821 |

As if things were not bad enough here at home the failed foreign policies of President Obama has the USA boiling in a cauldrin of hate and disrespect all over the globe. The only thing that is preventing the same actions here at home is our second amendment rights. The Japanese confessed that the reason they did not invade our shores in 1941 was because of armed citizens. First amendment rights are important but can not convince these people with words. Obama has said that we "cling to our guns and bibles" if he gets his way our guns will be gone. With the large contingent of Muslims in this country what do you think prevents them from riots, murder and flag burning? American diplomats have been murdered, 9/11 celebrated and troops placed in harms way by Obama's apologetic discoarse. If this country has ever needed a new president it is NOW!
