Saturday, November 03, 2012 12:47 AM Yelling man asked to leave elections office Party chairmen unite against man's tactics By Janet Conner-Knox | Times Staff Writer The chairmen of the Wilson County Republican and Democratic parties forgot about political differences and joined forces Friday afternoon against a man accused of harassing voters and poll watchers at the Wilson County Board of Elections office. Wilson County sheriff’s deputies were called. Voting officials said deputies have been called out to the board of elections three other times during early voting this year. "The other incident is when one guy came back three times,” said Linda Cooper Suggs, elections board secretary. "We know that person and we are aware of the circumstances there.” Deputies were called to the scene Friday because Brendon Frost, a Wilson resident, made volunteers very uncomfortable. Paisley Suggs, a volunteer, was giving out literature to voters when she said Frost began yelling at her up close. "He literally got in my face and was pointing and yelling saying President Obama was responsible for chopping up babies,” Suggs said. "This is America and we can have different points of view, but it’s not alright to do what he is doing. Both parties asked him to stop and he wouldn’t.” Frost wore a shirt with Romney printed just above the front pocket and a beret with a triple interlocking triangle. The Anti-Defamation League’s website said the triple interlocking triangle is a Neo-Nazi symbol. Rena’ Morris, elections director for Wilson County, said she tried to reason with Frost. "I told him I’ve had some people tell me you have been intimidating,” Morris said. "He said, ‘good, good, that means I’m getting their attention.’ So I told him he can’t get in another person’s face.” Morris said she was asked by Frost what should he do. She told him she would rather he go home. But he didn’t. "Obama will take the guns of every American,” Frost yelled as voters walked up. "I speak as a free American. I have no fear of pictures or tape recorders - I welcome them. The Democratic Party supports chopping up small babies in the womb and counting their parts to make sure there is no hemorrhage or infection.” Gary Proffitt, who chairs the Wilson County Republican Party, said he asked Frost to leave. When Frost didn’t leave, Proffitt called the sheriff’s office. Two deputies came right away, according to Proffitt, and told Frost he could not come close to the people who were there to vote, to pass out literature or to work. Frost said he was waiting on a ride. And as he waited, he shouted. "It’s 55 degrees out here and the policeman said to move on because it’s too cold out here,” Frost yelled to everyone. "This is a new one. I don’t know what’s going on. I’m just reporting a data of unbelievable silliness. Too cold, that’s what he said - too cold.” Deputies said nothing as they stood watching Frost. Proffit and Asa Gregory, chairman of the Wilson County Democratic Party, said Frosts’ behavior was very disrespectful. "I, along with Gary, just want people to be able to come in and vote peacefully,” Gregory said. "We don’t want anyone harassed or for anyone to get hurt out here.” Proffitt said he wanted Frost to leave the board of elections so people could exercise their right to vote without being yelled at. He said Frost made everyone very uncomfortable. "He does not represent Republicans,” Proffitt declared as Frost talked. "I don’t know where he came from. He’s certainly got freedom of speech. He’s not representing us well. He’s not representing himself well.” Gregory said Frost tried to pose for a picture with him. But Gregory told him he didn’t want that. "I’m just basically trying to ensure the safety of people who come to vote,” Gregory said. "The Wilson County deputies have got it under control. I want to be here in support of not just my people, but Gary and his people, too. That guy (Frost) is not standing for either one of us.” Morris said she hopes today, which is the last day of early voting, will be without incident. janet@wilsontimes.com | 265-7847 |

There are people on both sides that have extreme views and agendas. No one is immune. And to be honest this may fly in the face of your thoughts but thank god someone is standing up for something. I'm so tired of people who just lay down and let things happen. That's not America. The Boston Tea Party folks didn't exactly act nice and peaceful did they?

This article would be much more entertaining if people would just add captions to the pictures instead of fighting and name calling.
