Police found a man dead inside a car near a busy Wilson intersection Friday afternoon.
Officers discovered the man’s body inside a 2010 Honda Accord parked beside the road near the intersection of Raleigh Road Parkway and Old Merck Road around 1:30 p.m., Wilson police Capt. Tad Shelton said.
Police didn’t immediately identify the man, but Shelton said he did not die in a crash. Officials plan to release more information today.
Officials towed the car to the city of Wilson’s operation center for safety, Shelton said.
State Bureau of Investigation agents and Wilson police detectives were investigating the death late Friday.
The city operations center is located at 1800 Herring Ave.
A Wilson County EMS ambulance left the operations center shortly after 8 p.m. Marked and unmarked Wilson police cars and the Wilson Police Department’s forensic unit van were visible through a chain-link fence surrounding the operations center.
SBI agents and plainclothes detectives were investigating the case late Friday.
Carron’s Funeral Home was dispatched as officials investigated Friday.
