Tractor-trailer flips on I-95

A tractor-trailer hauling Porsche and Mercedes-Benz sport utility vehicles ran off the road and flipped onto its side along Interstate 95 in Wilson Thursday night.
The 1993 Peterbilt truck overturned near mile marker 119 on I-95 North around 11 p.m., Trooper Jason Edwards of the N.C. Highway Patrol said.
The driver, 40-year-old Nestor Miguel Perez of 21980 S. 129th Ave., Miami, Fla., was not injured in the crash. No other vehicles were involved.
Edwards said steady rain and a slick road contributed to the wreck.
"He was trying to clear the windshield and ran off the road to the right,” Edwards said. "With the weather conditions, he tried to turn it back, and it just overturned on him.”
Perez will be charged with reckless driving, Edwards said.
Perez was hauling the three Porsche SUVs and one Mercedes-Benz SUV to New Jersey under contract for National Auto Sales, Edwards said. It wasn’t clear how much damage the SUVs sustained in the wreck.
One lane of I-95 North was closed as cleanup continued Friday morning, but all lanes of the highway were open at 11 a.m., according to the N.C. Department of Transportation.
