Feature: Can you identify these faces from the past?

Each Tuesday in The Wilson Times, we will run a photo or three of these old Wilson Recreation Department teams. Today’s photos are the 1979-80 Grades 5-6 boys basketball Warriors, who won the regular-season and tournament championships, and an unlabeled Midget League football team, presumably the Packers due to the "P” on the cheerleaders’ sweaters. The year is unknown but note the helmets do not have face guards.

If you know who the people are in the photos, you can call us at 252-265-7808, email us at sports@wilsontimes.com or just leave a comment on the online story at www.wilsontimes.com.

We will compile all the responses and post them on the comments section online.

If you would like a digital copy of one of the photos, drop by the office at Recreation Park Community Center on Sunset Road. For a $2 donation to Wilson Recreation Department athletics programs, you can get an emailed copy.

For more information, contact the Rec at 252-399-2266.

Thanks. Was Park Avenue's nickname the Packers back then? That was the case in the '70s and '80s.

The coach of the 5th-6th grade boys basketball team on the back right is Allen Thomas and I'm pretty sure his son Tartt is the player immediately left of him. I don't recognize any of the other players.
