Wilson man charged in strip club raid
17 arrested on prostitution, drug, alcohol charges

A Wilson man is one of 17 people facing alcohol violations and drug and prostitution charges in a police raid of the Selma strip club where he worked.

Stephen L. Finch, 28, of Wilson, was arrested Friday when N.C. Alcohol Law Enforcement agents stormed The Ranch at 200 Graham St. in Selma. The self-described "premiere gentlemen’s club” is near a busy Interstate 95 interchange.

Authorities said prostitution and sex acts took place at the strip club. Ecstasy, cocaine and prescription pills were seized in the raid, state public safety spokeswoman Patty McQuillan said.

"Businesses that routinely engage in and facilitate criminal activity have a detrimental effect on communities and jeopardize the safety of North Carolina citizens,” ALE Director B.W. Collier said in a statement. "Addressing these problem locations is one of the highest priorities of ALE.”

Finch faces two charges, one count of knowingly allowing drugs, gambling or prostitution in an establishment permitted to serve alcohol and one count of knowingly allowing alcohol violations to occur.

Women who worked at the strip club were arrested on charges of prostitution, committing illegal sex acts, exposing their genitals and simulating sex or masturbation.

ALE agents raided the club with Selma police and Johnston County sheriff’s deputies around 10:30 p.m. Friday. Selma police asked the state agency to investigate after receiving complaints about illegal activity at The Ranch.

"I would like to thank ALE, who spent many hours working this six-month investigation,” Selma police Capt. R.A. Cooper said in a statement. "This joint operation shows the good citizens of Selma we are not going to tolerate the illegal activities going on in this establishment or any other. I believe this will send a message to any business in our town: If you are engaging in criminal activity, you could be next.”

Every strip club I ever visited always did the same song and dance (about 20 times). They showed their genitals, rubbed boobies in my face and simulated masturbation and more. I guess I must be around a lot of nasty places then in 5 states, 2 countries, some full nude, some not. A classy strip club? What planet are you from? Sounds like Hmmm.. has it right. Someones wife was mad or they did not give the police the free lap dance. Or the religious zealots in Selma thought it was too sinful and waged a personal moral fight. A special permit to show their genitals... How much does that run you? Classy Ha Ha. That sounds more like a Sport Illustrated swimsuit edition.

Looks like someone didn't want to pay the extra "tax" to the powers that be. Being a bully is a lot more fun when it's legal. And they said organized crime was finished.

strippers do not expose genitals....you have to have a different type of permit to allow that and different conditions/restrictions apply... Strippers are not allowed to let people touch them. They are not to masturbate or take part in masturbation while stripping...So..why don't you finish quoting the charges. If you think the charges that were given to them describes their jobs...then...you must be around a lot of "nasty". These women nor the club has any class. The club has never had any type of class at all even under different owners. This says a lot about the people that go in and come out of it on a weekend basis.

Arresting strippers? said...

It seems like they are arresting strippers for being strippers? Engaging in entertaining conduct with genitals exposed while simulating a sex act. I thought that was what a stripper does at a strip club?
Maybe in Selma they should arrest the police for making arrests. Arrest the mayor for conducting business on behalf of the city. I don't get it.
