3 killed in fiery crash in Rocky Mount

Rocky Mount Police are investigating a fiery crash that killed three people early Friday. Police responded to the 500 block of South Grace Street just before 2 a.m. and discovered a vehicle had run off the road and struck a building. The vehicle was engulfed in flames, according to police.

The Rocky Mount Fire Department worked to put out the fire. Investigators at the scene recovered the remains of three people who were inside the vehicle at the time, according to officials. Cpl. Michael Lewis said Friday afternoon the medical examiner’s office will be working to identify the remains.

No other vehicles were involved or others injured at this point in the investigation, police said. The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the Rocky Mount Police Department Traffic Enforcement Crash Reduction Unit.
