Man hospitalized after shooting By Gina Childress | Staff Writer Wilson Police are investigating a shooting that occurred Friday at 3:15 p.m., near Penny Lane and Minchew Street. When officers arrived, they found 24-year-old Charles Dwayne Parker suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Parker was conscious and able to tell officers who he believed shot him. Because the investigation is ongoing, investigators have declined to release the suspect's name at this time, said Officer Kolly Burritt, spokesperson with the Wilson Police Department. "The victim was able to tell officers that the suspect left on a black and burgundy SUV that was heading towards Lane Street from Minchew Street," she said. Parker was transported to Wilson Medical Center and later airlifted to Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
