Saturday's Obituaries Marlene S. Roberts ALMO, Ky. -- Marlene Slaughter Roberts, 71, died Wednesday at Murray Calloway County Hospital. Mrs. Roberts was born Nov. 6, 1936 in Mayfield, Ky. She was a member of First Christian Church of Murray and also an administrative assistant for Murray City School Board. Mrs. Roberts was a member of the (IAAP) International Association of Administrative Professionals in which she belonged to the Murray IAAP chapter; she served as president from 1984-1985. In 1985, she was named the Murray Chapter Secretary of The Year. She was also a (CPS) certified professional secretary. Survivors include her husband, Hugh L. Roberts (married April 15, 1988 in Murray, Ky.) of Almo, Ky.; two daughters, Tresea Bruce and husband David of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Anne McGregor of Topeka, Kan.; two sons, Ken Slaughter and John Slaughter and wife Gina, all of Almo, Ky.; a sister, Lily Sheehan of Green Valley, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her father, L.C. English; mother, Evelyn Eddings English; first husband, Ken Slauther; two sons, Len Slaughter and Kelly Roberts; and a brother, L.C. English Jr. Services are today, May 10, 2008, at 2 p.m. at J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. Minister Dr. Charles Rolen and eulogy by Oatman Farley. Burial will be at Murray City Cemetery.
