County commissioner isn't Julius Caesar

May I weigh in on the county tax issue? Who does County Chairman Mr. Emory think he is, Julius Caesar? He acts like it!

Instead of poking around in the tax bin to see what new taxes he can dig out and impose, he needs to poke around in the disbursements bin and see what waste and fraud he can dig out!

The WDT recently did a piece on cell phones in the county. How many and whether they are used strictly for official business as they should be. (They aren't.)

How about doing a piece on how many vehicles and pieces of equipment are in the county fleet? Are they all needed? Who are they assigned to? Full time? Why? Are they used for personal use? Does all the gas that's pumped actually (and only!) go into county vehicles? How about checking mileage logs to see if by chance some vehicles might be getting 2 miles per gallon?

I'll bet if Mr. Emory really got digging in that waste and fraud section, why we might actually hear a phrase that hasn't been used by politicians for a long time. "Tax repeal"! Plus there would be plenty of money to provide "services" for those who truly deserve it!

Supervisors and managers who get paid to supervise and don't need to be replaced by people who will! They all work for taxpayers and it's about time they started to show some respect for their "bosses."

By the way, I know politicians can be voted out of office at the next election, but is there an impeachment process in place if the public doesn't want to wait? Just curious!
