John McCain is no 'ordinary guy' The only real joke of this election is the Republican nominee John McCain's posture as just an ordinary guy. He (and Hillary, who really should know better) wants to give the average American a whole 25 extra dollars of income by summer's end (Tax Policy Institute) by eliminating the 18 cent holiday gas tax, further escalating all of our other problems, from infrastructure to global warming, guaranteeing to further benefit oil companies. John McCain, who is married to a billionair-ress keeps referring to himself as a "regular guy," a "back of the bus Johnnie." Someone who understands the escalating prices of energy, food and medical care. A non-elitist. Oh, please! He has even declined to support policy that would give us the same medical insurance coverage that he currently benefits from. The success of this "just a regular guy" ad campaign is another piece of Republican fiction guaranteed to wreak further havoc on our country. If you believe the party's fiction of understanding the concerns of "the average Joe," there is this bridge for sale. As President Bush (the other piece of Republican fiction) would say ... "fool me once, shame on you, fool me..., well you can't shame us again." (paraphrased) Looks like they can and they will, again, if McCain succeeds. Deborah A. Baro Runnymeade Road
