Black Creek Historical Society: Group researchs and compiles history of interest to the Black Creek community. Boy Scouts of America: Mission is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over the course of their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. The Wilson District Committee of the East Carolina Council meets every fourth Thursday (except July) in the building out back at West Nash United Methodist Church. This committee plans for the continued success of Scouting programs in Wilson County and southern Nash County. Christian Motorcyclists Association: This inter-denominational Christian organization for motorcycle enthusiasts meets the second Saturday of each month at 9 a.m. at Golden Corral in Wilson. Council on Aging: Works to coordinate and disseminate information from all organizations providing assistance and programs for the aging in Wilson County. Darden Alumni Association: Meets on the second Saturday of each month at 6 p.m. at the Darden Alumni Center, 1600 Lipscomb Road. Awards scholarships, provides services for local students to help broaden educational experiences and cooperates with other organizations concerned with youth welfare. Yearly events include a New Year's Eve celebration, a Valentine's Scholarship Ball and a Mother's Day buffet dinner.

Darden Trojan Athletic Heritage: Based on the belief that the community has a responsibility to help build and strengthen the character and competence of our youth, this group meets on the second and third Sunday of every month at 6 p.m. 237-6219 or 291-3808.

Disabled American Veterans, Chapter No. 8: Aids veterans with transportation to the Durham VA Hospital and to the VA clinics in Greenville and Raleigh. Eastern Carolina Corvette Club: Sanctioned by the National Council of Corvette Clubs, the group promotes the enjoyment of corvette ownership. Meets the second Saturday of each month at 10 a.m. at Hubert Vester Chevrolet. Yearly projects include: a corvette and classic car show, held the first Saturday in May; an autocross event in March; a fun display event in September; and participation in area parades. Experimental Aircraft Association: Open to anyone interested in general aviation, this club meets the first Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to noon at Wilson Industrial Airport, with a program followed by a meal. The chapter sponsors a fly-in with air rides each September, a Young Eagles group and various other activities and fly-ins at other times of the year. Evenings Lions Club: Lions is the largest civic club in the world and is dedicated to helping the blind. This group holds a White Cane Fundraiser each year to help the blind and assists in the support of Camp Dogwood, a recreational facility for the visually impaired. William Wallace, 243-9691.

First Union Group: This club consists of people who, at one time, worked for either The National Bank of Wilson or First Union National Bank. Meeting dates for 2008 are Feb. 14, June 12 and Oct. 9. Meetings are at 11:30 a.m. at Something Different. Edith Thompson, 237-2023.

Forty and Eight Voiture: Legionnaires that promote child welfare, helps the American Legion and provides nurses training scholarships. Meetings are the fourth Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at different locations. Van Raper, 239-0206.

Garden Department: Part of the Wilson Woman's Club, the Garden Department meets the second Tuesday of the month at 11:30 a.m. at the Wilson Woman's Club. Genealogical Society: Group shares research techniques, sources and family history information at monthly meetings and on-line discussion forum. Publishes the monthly "Trees of Wilson" Chronicles. Preserves Wilson County history and histories of Wilson families through many published books which are available for purchase. Mediation Center of Eastern Carolina: The purpose of MCEC is to help individuals and groups resolve conflict respectfully through mediation. MOMS Club of Wilson: This international support group for at-home mothers holds a meeting the third Friday of each month at 9:30 a.m. at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, 202 N. Peace by Piecing Quilt Guild: Meets each Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the Wilson County Agricultural Center, conference room 2 to promote the art of quilting through workshops, demonstrations and exhibits and sharing among members. Rotary Club: Purpose of Rotary is to foster ideals of service, to promote high ethical standards in business and professions and to encourage the advancement of international understanding and goodwill. Tar River Chapter of the Civil Air Patrol (USAF Auxiliary): Meets at 4500 Airport Drive on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. Cadets (ages 12-18) meet on the first and third Sunday at 1:30 p.m. The mission of the Civil Air Patrol is Search and Rescue, Aerospace Education, and Disaster Relief. Tau Gamma Delta Sorority: The Beta Omega Chapter meets the first Saturday of each month at 11 a.m. Meeting place will be determined by the hostess for that month. The purpose of this group is to promote higher ideas in community and civic activities and to establish reputable standards of growth and harmony for business and professional women. United Daughters of the Confederacy: The John W. Dunham Chapter of the UDC is dedicated to historic preservation, education, patriotism, memorials and the care of veterans. Meets on the third Thursday of each month, March-April and September-November, at 3 p.m. in various members' homes. The chapter's main goal is the preservation of historic buildings and the establishment of a Wilson County History Museum. Yearly project is Confederate Memorial Day in May. United Order of Odd Fellows: This group, concerned with unity, charity, fraternity and love for all mankind, meets the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. Alton Thompson, 237-0528.

United States Submarine Veterans Inc.: A national organization of more than 12,000 members. There are more than 150 members in the Tarheel Base chapter of this organization. The only requirement for membership is to be Designated Qualified In Submarines. The Tarheel Base meets about four times a year at different locations in North Carolina. Next major event is to take part in the Commissioning ceremony for the U.S.S. North Carolina SSN 777 to be held in Wilmington on May 3. Jerry Emerson, 289-6329.

Veterans of Foreign Wars and Ladies Auxiliary: Local Post 6651 meets the third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the post home, 4303 Ward Blvd. VFW Ladies Auxiliary meets at the same time in the same location. Vietnam Veterans of America: Chapter 990 is a group of Vietnam veterans. Meets the third Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at the White Swan Restaurant on U.S. 301 in Smithfield. Wilson All-American Kiwanis: This organization focuses on children with their projects benefiting Imagination Station, Habitat for Humanity, ACT for Youth and the Salvation Army. Wilson Area Railroad Modelers: This group has a 20' by 120' HO railroad operating on a digitrax DCC system, located at the Antique Barn and Hobby Shop, 2810 Forest Hills Road. Wilson Breakfast Optimist Club: Meets Mondays at 6:45 a.m. at Something Different. Club sponsors an oratorical contest, bicycle safety, Bucks for grades, law enforcement banquet, Boys and Girls Club, Wilson County 4-H and various high school projects. Wilson Council of the North Carolina Reading Association: This group seeks to promote literacy in Wilson County by providing literacy opportunities for all students. Wilson County Chapter of Fayetteville State University Alumni: Club's purpose is to promote and advance the interest of Fayetteville State University. Wilson County Law Enforcement Officers Association: This group, formed to promote technical information, crime prevention techniques and better law enforcement-community relations among officers, meets the first Wednesday of each month at 8:30 a.m. at Strother's Restaurant. Wilson County Master Gardener Volunteers: Master Gardener volunteers promote gardening by providing information on establishing and maintaining lawns, landscapes, gardens and houseplants in ways that protect the environment's resources. Volunteers complete a 40-hour training program, as well as a 40-hour internship of volunteer service and learning to become certified by the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service. Wilson County Republican Party: Promotes basic conservative ideology and fiscal policy, believing in strong adherence to constitutional law which protects individual freedoms and limits governmental powers. Wilson Cut-Ups: A square dance club which promotes and teaches Western style square dancing, the group meets every Thursday night from 7:30 until 9:30 at First United Methodist Church. Lloyd Holman, 243-6913.

Wilson Family YMCA: Offers youth development and sports programs, swim lessons, summer camps and various programs. Meets third Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. at Wilson Medical Center. Call 291-9622.

Wilson Jaycees: This civic-minded group of men and women, ranging in age from 21-40, provide leadership training and individual development through planning and participating in community service activites. The Jaycees sponsor a Distinguished Service Awards banquet in the spring, participate in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life and the Cystic Fibrosis Bike-A-Thon in the summer, sponsor a haunted house in October and the Wilson Christmas Parade and Santa Letter Project in December. Wilson Kiwanis Club: Kiwanis -- a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time. Our motto: "Serving the Children of the World." Active in Wilson for 87 years, this club donated the train at the Recreation Center to the city and recently donated a scoreboard at Gillette Soccer Complex. Wilson Multi-Cultural Business Partnership: The primary mission of WMBP is to promote the growth and enhance community awareness of multi-cultural businesses. Wilson Tennis Foundation: Promotes tennis in Wilson by providing a network to area tennis players and events. Organizes and supports community services projects that introduce tennis to area youth and adults. Wilson Wide Awake Kiwanis: Club offers a service to the community by active participation and fund donations to various projects and by supporting the Key Club at Hunt High School.
