Local gets college degree

Wilson resident and 2004 Hunt High School graduate Katharine Rose Corcoran graduated from the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Va., with a B.A. in Government and Psychology on May 11, 2008. Katharine is the daughter of Frank and Andrea Corcoran.

 

High-schoolers develop business plans

Students in Joyce Parks' Digital Communications class at Hunt High School developed and presented business plans recently before local business leaders.

The students developed a business, designed a logo, store front and layout, developed a Web site, business plan and a commercial detailing their companies.

The students worked in groups of four and presented this project for bank financing. Some of the panel members included Jennifer Lantz, executive director of the Wilson Economic Development Council; Cindy Ingram, project coordinator for WEDC; Buzz Wilkinson of BB&T; and Angela Norris, career technical education director for Wilson County Schools among others.

 

Student to attend leadership conference

Allison Jernigan, a sophomore at Hunt High School, has been selected to attend the Legislators' School for Youth Leadership Development slated to be held on the campus of East Carolina University.

The session will be held June 14 - 20.

Allison, 15, of Kenly will attend classes and participate in activities designed to enhance leadership skills, all within an experience-based framework developed around the "Seven Habits of Highly Effective People" by Stephen Covey and the "Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens" by Sean Covey. She will also complete an outdoor challenge program and participate in a community service project.

 

Local earns law degree

Wilson resident Jonathan Scott Bischoff II earned a degree in law, graduating as a part of the 2008 graduating class of Charleston School of Law, Charleston, S.C. Jonathan is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Robert Bischoff.
