James Russell Oates and Susan Harrell Oates of Middlesex announce the engagement of their son, Noah Spears Oates, to Elizabeth Ann Medlin, daughter of M. Elizabeth Medlin of Haymarket, Va., and L. Scott Medlin of Woodbridge, Va. The groom is the grandson of the late Charles Richard Oates and Louise Williamson Oates, and the late Judge Allen Waylan Harrell and the late Irene Burk Harrell, all of Wilson. The wedding is planned for May 17 at Bailey United Methodist Church in Bailey.
