The 2012 Football Forecast came down to the wire with the Carrboro-South Iredell matchup in the N.C. High School Athletic Association 2-AA championship serving as the decisive contest.

South Iredell scored in the final minute to pull out a 30-27 victory and make a winner of The Times Senior Staff Writer by one game over The Former Times Assistant Sports Editor. Placing third was 2011 Forecast king The Times Sports Editor, four games off the championship pace but two games ahead of The Times Staff Writer, who ended two games ahead of The Guest Picker slot. Gamely rounding out the panel was The Times Photo Editor.

This represents the third Forecast crown in four years for The Times Senior Staff Writer, and second by a one-game margin over The Former Times Assistant Sports Editor, who will return in 2013 as one of the weekly guests.
