Springfield remains undefeated

The Springfield baseball team downed Elm City 12-0 Tuesday to improve to 13-0 for the year.

Parker Lamm, Dustin Alford and Logan Butts each had two hits. One of Butts' hits was a three-run home run in the first inning.

Colin Brody allowed three hits over five innings with four strikeouts to get the win.

Springfield wraps up the season at Forest Hills Thursday afternoon.

 

Speight posts 39 runs in pair of wins

The Speight baseball team ended its season 7-7 after holding off Forest Hills 19-18 Tuesday, one day after posting a 20-2 win against Darden.

The Cougars began the year 1-5 but won six of its last eight.

Speight trailed by five runs going into its final at-bat but Cole Dudley walked with the bases loaded to cap the six-run comeback.

Nick Webb went 5 for 6 and Nathan Boykin added four hits. Boykin also hit two home runs in Monday's win.

Spencer Manz was the winning pitcher in both games.

 

Speight finishes 13-1

The Speight softball team posted wins against Darden and Forest Hills this week to close the season 13-1.

The Lady Cougars cruised to a 18-0 win against Darden Monday and downed Forest Hills 7-1 Tuesday afternoon.

Alysha Nutt and Harley Williford were the winning pitchers, respectively.

Every Speight player scored at least one run in the Darden game and Jessica Williford and Nutt each tallied three hits against Forest Hills.
