Thomas & Farris Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week: Nick James
Fike High senior Nick James ruled the tennis court for the fourth straight year last week, making him this week’s Thomas & Farris Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.
Nick didn’t lose a game as he won four matches to claim his third consecutive 3-A Big East Conference singles championship last week at Barton College Tennis Complex. Nick, who won the 3-A NEW 6 Conference title as a freshman, improved to 21-1 on the season and 89-11 in his career in singles.
Nick also played soccer and swam at Fike, where he maintains a 4.3 weighted grade point average while taking International Baccalaureate courses. He is a member of National Honor Society, Student Government Association, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Culinary Club, for which he is the president.
Nick is active at Calvary Presbyterian Church in Wilson, where he serves as a volunteer for the Meals On Wheels program.
The son of Florence and William James of Wilson, Nick plans to attend East Carolina University where he intends to major in business. His career plans include becoming a Certified Public Accountant.
