Senior Markus Hendrix was right in the middle of his Hunt High varsity football team’s win in the second round of the state 3-AA playoffs last week, making him this week’s Thomas & Farris Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.
Markus, the starting left tackle, helped the Warriors gain 399 yards of offense as they won 25-20 at previously unbeaten Raleigh Cardinal Gibbons. Markus also played defensive line for Hunt, which is now 12-0.
Markus holds a 3.5 unweighted grade point average at Hunt, where is ranked 45th in his class of 300-plus. He is a member of the National Technical Honor Society, French Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and DECA. Markus also throws the shot put and discus on the Warriors track-and-field team.
The son of Dawn and Frank Hendrix of Wilson, Markus is part of the youth leadership team at First Baptist Church in Wilson. He hopes to continue his football career at the collegiate level and plans on majoring in athletic training/exercise science.
