Thomas & Farris Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week: Richard Hinton
Richard Hinton had a hot bat for the hot-hitting Fike High varsity baseball team last week, making him this week’s Thomas & Farris Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.
Richard, a senior outfielder, batted a sizzling .667 (8 for 12) as the Golden Demons won three games, scoring 39 runs in the process, to improve to 6-0. Fike, which lost its first game this week, edged North Johnston 9-7 then topped Princeton in consecutive games 11-7 and 19-4. Richard ripped three doubles and drove in three runs on the week.
The son of Elizabeth and Art Hinton of Wilson, Richard ranks seventh in Fike’s senior class with a 4.77 weighted grade point average while taking Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate courses.
He is a member of National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society and Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Fike, where he also played soccer.
Richard has been nominated for appointment to U.S. Naval Academy.
He was a Boys State participant last summer and recently worked as a volunteer at The Brittany IX.
He and his family attend First United Methodist Church.
