Thomas & Farris Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week: Tristan Kosich
Second baseman Tristan Kosich has been a steady starting member of the Greenfield School varsity baseball team all season, making him this week’s Thomas & Farris Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.
Tristan, an eighth-grader, batted .500 (3 for 6) in the Knights’ last three games, driving in five runs and laying down three sacrifice bunters while not making an error. Greenfield won two from Fayetteville Freedom Christian and lost to four-time defending N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association 1-A champion Lawrence Academy.
Tristan, the son of Elizabeth and Mark Kosich of Bailey, has made the A-honor roll the past two grading periods at Greenfield, where he is a class representative for Student Government Association. He was also a standout member of the junior varsity soccer and basketball teams.
A painting by Tristan won first place in a 2011 state competition sponsored by Tar Heel Junior Historians and has been on display in the N.C. Museum of History. It will be donated to the United Daughters of the Confederacy in a school ceremony April 17.
