Thomas & Farris Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week: Zovek Chapa


Fike High wrestler Zovek Chapa continued his outstanding season with seven victories in eight matches last week, making him this week’s Thomas & Farris Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.

In the Milt Sherman Duals at D.H. Conley on Saturday, Zovek went 4-1 at 113 pounds, winning by pin, decision, technical fall and forfeit. He picked up another technical-fall victory Tuesday against Ayden-Grifton then finished his week by winning both his matches in Thursday’s County Versus County Challenge, one by pin and one by forfeit, to push his season record to 24-2.

The son of Hilda and Zovek Chapa of Wilson, Zovek holds a 4.0 weighted grade point average at Fike.

He works in the summer as a volunteer with Wilson Medical Center’s Volunteen program.

Zovek wrestles year round in programs at Wilson Youth United’s The SPOT and Rocky Mount Parks and Recreation.

He also is a second-degree black belt in tae kwon do.
