Thomas & Farris Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week: Kiana Ballard

Kiana Ballard was a big reason the Hunt High girls basketball team repeated as Farris & Farris Holiday Tournament champion last week, making her this week’s Thomas & Farris Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.

Kiana, a 6-foot-2 junior center, was named the Eddie Summerlin Memorial Most Valuable Player of the girls tournament. In the Lady Warriors’ 64-62 win against Fike in Wednesday’s semifinals matchup at Beddingfield, she scored a team-high 17 points to go along with 11 rebounds.

Against Beddingfield in the championship game Friday, a 49-35 Hunt win, Kiana had a game-high 14 points and 10 rebounds.

She was named to the all-tournament team for the second straight year.

Kiana is also a standout on the Lady Warriors volleyball team, landing on the 3-A Big East Conference all-conference team.

The daughter of Vanessa and Gregory Ballard of Wilson, Kiana plays for the WAVE travel volleyball team through Wilson County Youth Athletic Association and with the Greenville Warriors, an AAU basketball team.
