Thomas & Farris Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week: Courtney Taybron

Courtney Taybron helped provide a perfect ending to the Wilson Christian varsity girls basketball season last week, making her this week’s Thomas & Farris Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.

The Lady Chargers completed an unbeaten season at 27-0 with three victories to claim their second consecutive N.C. Christian School Association state championship. Courtney, a junior post, scored 36 points in the three games and was named to the NCCSA 2-A all-state squad. On the season, Courtney averaged 12.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 3.5 steals per game.

The daughter of Lisa and Tim Taybron of Wilson, Courtney holds a 4.4 weighted grade point average and is a member of National Honor Society at Wilson Christian, where she is also a standout soccer player.

Courtney plays soccer for CASL ‘95 Elite and has an impressive resume as a javelin thrower for the U.S. Track and Field-affiliated Wilson Track Club, finishing second in state and regional competitions and eighth nationally in the event.

She and her family attend Peace Church in Wilson, where she is active in the youth group.
