Thomas & Farris Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week: Rachel Garrou

Rachel Garrou helped her Fike High varsity volleyball team finish a perfect regular season in 3-A Big East Conference play last week, making her this week’s Thomas & Farris Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.

Rachel, a junior libero, totaled 16 service points, three aces, 29 service digs and 20 regular digs as the Lady Demons defeated Northern Nash and archrival Hunt in four games each to finish 10-0 in Big East matches.

Rachel entered her junior year at Fike ranked No. 8 in her class with a 4.65 weighted grade point average. She is a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) clubs at Fike, where she has applied for membership to National Honor Society.

The daughter of Ginger and Kelly Garrou of Elm City, Rachel also is active in Wilson County 4-H, raising and showing livestock and serving as secretary for the Kickin’ Clovers 4-H Club.

She participated in the Fike volleyball team’s mission trip to the Dominican Republic earlier this year.
