Thomas & Farris Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week: John Holsten




Sophomore John Holsten played a big role in his Fike High boys swim team’s third straight 3-A Big East Conference win last week, making him this week’s Thomas & Farris Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.

John won the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events and was part of the Golden Demons’ victorious 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay teams.

Fike has finished first in each of the Big East meets at the Rocky Mount Harrison Family YMCA while John has yet to lose an individual event.

The son of Trish and Rob Holsten of Wilson, John has a weighted grade point average of 4.3 He is a member of the Student Booster Club at Fike.

When he’s not swimming for the Demons, John is a standout swimmer for the Wilson Barracudas swim team, sponsored by Wilson Parks and Recreation Department. He has twice qualified for the North Carolina Swimming Senior Championships.

John has worked as a lifeguard at Recreation Park Community Center pool.
