Thomas & Farris Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week: T.J. Harris


T.J. Harris helped his Fike High varsity boys basketball team end 2013 on the highest possible note last week, making him this week’s Thomas & Farris Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.

T.J., a senior point guard, was instrumental in the Golden Demons sweep of county rivals Beddingfield and Hunt to win the 2013 Farris & Farris Holiday Tournament at Hunt. T.J. doled out 10 assists as the Demons eked past the Bruins 63-61 in Friday’s semifinal. In Fike’s 52-50 win over the Warriors in the championship game Saturday, T.J. had five points, five rebounds and seven assists in making his way onto the all-tournament team.

For the season, T.J. is averaging 6.3 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 2.5 points in helping the Demons to a 12-0 start, their best in years.

T.J. holds a weighted 4.0 grade point average at Fike, where he is a member of the Good Samaritans Club.

The son of Tammie and Timothy Harris of Wilson, T.J. plans to major in business management in college but hasn’t decided which four-year institution he will attend.

He has played for the Wilson Blue Devils AAU basketball team and run his own lawn maintenance business in the summer.
