Thomas & Farris Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week: Mike Williams


Mike Williams etched his name in Charles B. Aycock High varsity boys basketball history last Friday, making his this week’s Thomas & Farris Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.

Mike, a 6-foot-5 senior, scored 23 points in the Golden Falcons 81-54 loss at home to 3-A/4-A Eastern Carolina Conference visitor South Central. The last two came at the foul line and gave Mike exactly 1,000 points in his three-season varsity career.

For the season, he leads the Falcons with 19.8 points per game and his career average is 15.6.

The son of Pernell and Michael Williams of Saulston, Mike has a 2.8 grade point average at Aycock.

He hopes to continue his basketball career at the collegiate level and has attracted recruiting interest from NCAA Division I Chicago State University as well as Div. I Barton College and University of Mount Olive.

Mike played for Wayne County Blazers AAU team for several years.
