Thomas & Farris Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week: Madison Ward

Madison Ward’s big bat was part of two big wins for her Fike High varsity softball team last week, making her this week’s Thomas & Farris Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.

Madison, a junior first baseman, hit .571 (4 for 7) with two doubles, a triple, four RBIs and three runs scored as the Lady Demons blanked archrival Hunt 4-0 on Friday and whipped Rocky Mount 12-0 on Saturday to move into a three-way tie for first place in the 3-A Big East Conference.

For the season, Madison is batting .372 with a .420 on-base percentage. She’s hit five doubles, two triples and has driven in 11 runs and scored 15. She was the Lady Demons’ Offensive Player of the Year and all-Big East the past two seasons.

The daughter of Margaret and Randy Ward of Wilson, Madison has a 4.4 weighted grade point average. She is a member of National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Tri M music club at Fike, where she also sings in the chorus and ensemble.

Madison has volunteered her time for Wilson County Youth Athletic Association and Meals on Wheels of Wilson.

She was a member of three Babe Ruth Softball World Series champions with the Wilson County Xtreme All-Stars.
