Thomas & Farris Student-Athlete of the Week: Josh Joyner
Josh Joyner enjoyed another big rushing night for the Hunt High varsity football team Friday, making him this week’s Thomas & Farris Student-Athlete of the Week.
Josh, a junior tailback, passed the 100-yard mark for the fourth straight game as he ran for 117 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the unbeaten Warriors’ 27-14 win at Rocky Mount. For the season, Josh has averaged 119.7 yards per game — best among players in The Wilson Times readership area — and has scored 12 TDs on the ground.
Josh, a solid B student, takes honors courses in English, American history and trignometry. The son of Crystal Vines-Cobb and Jeff Cobb of Wilson, Josh also runs track and is a member of ROTC at Hunt.
He lists reading as one of his hobbies and hopes to major in physical education in college and later teach P.E. or be an elementary school teacher.
