Thomas & Farris Student-Athlete of the Week: Sam Hoeferkamp
From staff reports
Sam Hoeferkamp’s last week as a member of the Hunt High varsity boys soccer team was a productive one, making him this week’s Thomas & Farris Student-Athlete of the Week.
Sam, a senior midfielder, scored two goals in the Warriors’ 4-1 defeat of archrival Fike in the third round of the state 3-A playoffs then added an assist in Hunt’s season-ending 2-1 loss at Jacksonville in the next round.
The son of Melanie and John Hoeferkamp of Wilson, Sam is ranked first in his class with a 5.01 weighted grade point average.
He is a member of the National Honor Society, Student Government Association and Club Unify at Hunt. He remains undecided on his choice of colleges but hopes to major in either engineering or business.
Sam volunteers his time each Sunday before church to work at the St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church soup kitchen.
