Thomas & Farris Student-Athlete of the Week: Vernon Holman

Senior defensive tackle Vernon Holman continued his season-long excellent play for the Hunt High football team in Friday’s 31-14 playoff win, making him this week’s Thomas & Farris Student-Athlete of the Week.
As the Warriors eliminated Cardinal Gibbons in the third round of the state 3-AA playoffs, Vernon had four tackles, including a big fourth-quarter sack for a 10-yard loss. He has 87 tackles on the season for the 13-0 Warriors.
The son of Bernadette and Oscar Holman of Wilson, Vernon holds a 4.2 weighted grade point average and is ranked 29th in the senior class at Hunt. Vernon is a member of National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, Model United Nations and Junior ROTC, in which he holds the rank of major.
Vernon also serves as a tutor in Hunt’s chapter of Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID).
He plans to study computer science in college.
